I love the Librettos, but dang, sometimes they're kinda... overwhelming. Or I just get tired of their particular kind of bullshit. And also, I realized, there are so many aspects of the game that I've never actually encountered (because they aren't really useful in playing a legacy)! So I've been thinking a lot about other types of challenges I want to try!
I'm Surrounded By Idiots
god I want to only have one sim to control instead of having to monitor the needs and wants of the whole damn household rfbaekadak I mean sure I need to keep an eye on them, and I do want to see what shenanigans they get up to on their own, but damn it'll be nice to never have to switch between active sims
Anyway I already wrote a whole post about the rule set I want to use hehe.
"Adam and Eve" or City-building
On the premise that your sim is the first human, or goes to settle a new place, or whatever. All lots are empty where possible and all community buildings are off-limits until the family can buy the property. You need to travel somewhere else to meet another sim to marry or whatever. You build up your house from scratch, but at the same time, you build up the other lots in the world too. It's kind of the opposite of a legacy in that as your generations go on, you move kids out to settle more and more of the lots, and can freely switch around between households that are part of the family line. The goal is to build up the whole town as much as possible and unlock all of the establishments, instead of being about individual sims' achievements.
Rags to Riches/Dumpster Diver/Runaway
On a play level, I want to try out all the options for collecting and scavenging and getting maximum use out of community lots, because I've never explored that before. On a story level, I want to do something with a sim starting out all on their own with no property or money, not being able to get any traditional job, and trying to build up a life however they can. They'll start with an empty lot and zero simoleons, and have to live off of public resources in community lots and make money from collecting. I might also introduce penalties for things like any encounters with police or social workers, since I feel like that would be a bad time for somebody living rough like that.
Cinderella Challenge
Sim lives with Wicked Stepmother and Two Wicked Stepsisters or whatever and is responsible for all labor--the sim is required to cook every meal, make all the beds every day, and do all cleaning and repairing that's needed. Their goal is to sneak out and find someone else to marry or move in with or whatever.
idk might be fun to play out. would probably put a twist on the flavor text
Ambrosia Challenge
I wanna play with ghosties!! And I love the idea of a quest to create something being passed down generations, each sim getting a little bit closer or discovering something new.
Romeo and Juliet Challenge...ish thing
I don't like much of the details of this challenge, but I like the idea of making two families at the start, playing through one, and letting the other run on free will, and then having to bring them both together someday. Particularly with the idea of competing or enemy families.
